"Clank your chains,
And count your change,
Try to walk the line"

I'm surprised no NY head has mentioned the line that always got the big cheer at the North East shows:
"Just like New York City..."

Ever since the birth of my daughter seven months ago, "Your daddy's here and he never will forget you. I will take you home...." The whole tune and espically this line never fail to give me a chill and a tear to my eye.
Another favorite:
"I only want to hold you,I don't want to tie you down. Or fence you in the lines I might of drawn. It's just that I,I,ve gotten used to having you around. My landscape would be empty, if you were gone......."

"Take up your china doll
It's only fractured
Just a little nervous from the fall"

"And all the children learning
From books that they were burning
Every leaf was turning...

And when the day had ended
With rainbow colours blended
His mind remained unbended..."

"The heat came round and busted me for smiling on a cloudy day"

[Well the heat down in jail, they weren't very smart
They taught me how to read and write, they taught me the precious art
Of breaking out of jail, well I learned that right away
Well they didn't need me to telling them 'bout smiling first then running away]

"You're both out in the streets and you got no place to go..."

"Walking along in the Mission
in the rain
come again"

"He had to die
You know he had to die..."

"I can't believe that she really wants you to die...

Wait a minute, watch what you're doing with your time
All the endless ruins of the past must stay behind..."

"Ten years ago I walked this street, my dreams were riding tall
Tonight I would be thankful Lord, for any dreams at all
Some folks would be happy just to have one dream come true
But everything you gather is just more that you can lose"

"Your constant battles are getting to be a bore
So go somewhere else and continue your cream puff war"

Comes a time when the blind man takes your hand and says "don't you see"

Sometime the lights all shining on me
Sometimes I can barely see...
lately it occurs to me
what a long strange trip it's been

[blindman stood on the way and cried,
show me the way,
the way to go home
